Welcome to Lake Harriet United Methodist Church!

Are you looking for a place to worship God in new and numerous ways? Or maybe you want to find a church with outstanding children’s and youth education programs? Or maybe you’re seeking a welcoming and safe place to grow in your individual faith? If you want to be a part of a faith community dedicated to social justice and rooted in scripture, look no further than Lake Harriet United Methodist Church (LHUMC).

We are a community of faith, centered in Christ, and welcome all God’s people–that means everyone– to explore and deepen their relationship with God here. We believe each of us is on a spiritual journey no matter what our age and at LHUMC, we are strengthened and encouraged to grow in faith when we worship, study, pray, play, and serve together.

Our membership is filled with interesting people and personalities–musicians, writers and actors, doctors and teachers, marketers and managers, architects, engineers and more – who use their gifts, skills, and talents to serve God and God’s people. Please browse through our website to learn more about LHUMC, the people who worship here, the causes we champion and the educational and growth opportunities we offer. Or better yet, come and visit us in person. We'd like to get to know you.

Speaking Scripture

Reading aloud scripture holds the potential for changing lives whenever it is spoken. The results can be amazing when we become personally engaged reading scripture aloud. The possibility for transformation within our own hearts and others opens before us.

On Saturday May 17 from 9:30 –Noon, there will be a “Speaking Scripture” seminar lead by Mary Shaffer. We will work with Bible passages in finding the personal connection. We will also learn how to “score” a script in preparation for Sunday morning scripture reading.

Words have power. What is God trying to say through you? Come share in the process of illuminating God’s words and possibly discover new meaning for your own life journey.

Coffee and Bagels provided. Please reserve a spot with Mary Shaffer at mary.shaffer@lakeharrietumc.org.
