If you know how to read music and are looking for an outlet for your talents, consider joining the Festival Handbell Choir. This diverse group enjoys rehearsals throughout the year and occasionally leading worship at the 9:30 a.m. service.Lead by Barb Hanson, this choir allows individuals the opportunity to grow personally as well as bond with a fabulous group of musicians and friends.
The bells are a great addition to the worship service. Each bell has been donated to the church through memorial money. The church owns a 5-octave set of Schulmerich handbells and a 3-octave set of handchimes.
Barb and the bell choirs are members of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR). The Festival Bell Choir can and does participate in Area VII events for a nominal fee. The Festival Bells are a Coppers Plus group and typically ring level 3 and level 4 music.
Barb has been directing bell groups at LHUMC for over 25 years. “She’s talented, patient, and kind,” says one member.
