Protective Policies: Children, Youth, & Vulnerable Adults

Lake Harriet United Methodist Church seeks to provide a safe and secure environment for the children, youth, and vulnerable adults who participate in services, classes, programs, and activities.  The policies outlined in the link below have been drafted to ensure their safety and protect them from incidents of misconduct or inappropriate behavior by others. They are further intended to help staff and volunteers avoid situations where the potential for abuse or perceptions of abuse may be heightened.

The elements within these policies have been piloted over the past year and are based on those employed at churches and faith-based events across multiple denominations. Collectively, they represent what we feel are the clearest and most efficacious without being onerous to a broader objective of ensuring that all people feel safe, loved, and cared for in the church environment.
