Fulton Farmers Market Plans to Open May 16
Minneapolis recently released the following statement regarding farmers markets during the pandemic: “Farmers Markets are considered an essential grocery service and will remain open under specific conditions that help prevent the spread of coronavirus. Please note that not all services listed below will be available during this time and new safety precautions will be enforced. Learn more about the changes here.”

Fulton Farmers Market is planning a full outdoor market season and is hard at work in the planning and implementation of the market during this pandemic. This is what the planners shared with us today:

  • The market will have pre-order and on-site sales
  • Social distancing rules will be followed
  • All vendors are required to wear masks
  • Market attendees are encouraged to wear masks
  • If possible, the market asks one person per family to shop
  • Handwashing stations will be available
  • Different from past years, the LHUMC building will be closed to the general public. Vendors will be allowed to use our restrooms and we are planning the disinfecting regime we will require each time someone uses the restrooms.

As you can imagine, plans are fluid and being amended/enhanced hourly/daily as requirements change in this pandemic. We plan to communicate more complete information next week. To visit the Farmers Market website, click here.

The Fulton Farmers Market is hosted in the Lake Harriet UMC every summer, from May through October.
The Fulton Market sprouted from the desire of Fulton residents to establish a gather place where neighbors could meet, socialize, shop locally and thus strengthen their community. We have generally opened the doors to the church during the Farmer’s Market hours to welcome Farmer’s Market patrons and show hospitality to our community; however, during the 2020 pandemic we will be unable to do so.
