Sermon Series 2020
How are we going to get along with one another living in such close quarters? This series is loosely based on “Emotionally Healthy Relationships – a 40-Day Journey to Deeply Change your Relationships” by Pete Scazerro. Some of the book is very helpful, but some of the theology doesn’t quite fit. Still, a great read during this time.

A Letter of Introduction from Pastor Karen Bruins

Welcome to the series “Relationships in the Time of Covid 19.”

Spring 2020 has brought some new challenges we have never faced before: social distancing, at home learning, fears about a very real virus, job stress, financial stress, and of course the shortage of toilet paper! How are we getting along with one another living in such close quarters, or in being isolated alone in one’s house/apartment? The pandemic has people feeling and exhibiting a whole range of emotions: from fear, boredom, loneliness, anxiety, crankiness, despair, hope and more.
In this series we are going to spend five weeks talking about our emotional and spiritual health. Emotional health and spiritual health are tied to one another. You can’t have one without the other. Each week we will explore a new theme and learn a new skill.

Here’s my plan for now, but if I have learned anything in the last few months, it is that everything is subject to change.

My prayer for our congregation as we move through this series is that we will grow to love God and love people more, and that we will learn some helpful relationship skills that will last us well beyond the pandemic!

Grace and peace,

Pastor Karen Bruins
