Hello Friends!

The staff and leadership of Lake Harriet UMC are actively working on plans on how to address ministry in the era of COVID-19. These plans will include guidelines for when and how to resume in-person worship. Live-streaming will continue to be a primary tool for our ministry. In addition to following recommendations from the Minnesota Health Department, Governor Walz and FEMA, our decision making will also be guided by John Wesley’s “Three Simple Rules.”

  1. Do good
  2. Do no harm
  3. Stay in love with God

We will especially lean on rule 2 – “Do no harm.” We will make decisions with the safety of parishioners and staff as the top priority. If the potential is there for a ministry to “do harm” and spread the virus, we will not move forward.

Here’s another fun tidbit from John Wesley who said, “The world is my parish.” We at Lake Harriet UMC are seeing the truth of that statement as each week more and more people from all around the metro, the state, and even the country, are tuning in for live-stream worship. They are connecting with worship, and with one another, and they are giving to support the ministry of the church. People who may never enter our physical building, are finding a home at Lake Harriet. Thank you for providing, through your giving of tithes and offerings, the infrastructure that allows people to connect with God and one another during this sometimes scary season!

Please do share with your friends and family the link to live-stream worship.
